Amerrudin bin Ahmad was born in 1970 in Baling, Kedah, Malaysia. He has extensive experience in the field of curatorial and fine art conservation. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts from 1990 to 1994. He continued his education in Conservation of Cultural Property at the National Research Laboratory for Conservation of Cultural Property, Lucknow, UP, India, from 1998 to 1999. He obtained a Master’s degree in Conservation of Fine Art from Northumbria University, Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK, from 2011 to 2013.

He joined the National Art Gallery in 1997 as an assistant curator for exhibitions and later in the research and conservation unit until 2003. He was then appointed as Curator and Head of Collection Management and Conservation from 2003 to 2018. His career reached its pinnacle when he was appointed Deputy Director- General (Operations) of the National Art Gallery in 2019 and then as Director-General in 2020.

He is also a research member of the Asia Pacific Tropical Climate Art Conservation Research Network (APTCCARN) from 2008 to the present.
