John Bear, aka Izzul Faiz Idrus, is a vocalist, lyricist and founding member of an indie reggae x ska x nusantara band Budak Nakal Hujung Simpang. His music and lyrics talk about culture, union and society. He has also built an impressive reputation as a sought-after songwriter with his works featured in RTM’s Star finals, writing jingles for corporate brands and songs for mainstream artists. John Bear is an actor as well and strives to maintain and continue the tradition of writing in Old Malay, and aspires to be an empu kata or word maestro of the 21st century.
