Penang Art Open 2021

Painting, drawing, photography, sculpture and etc. Penang Art Open Competition is a contemporary art competition that is open to all visual artists, novice to professional artist and 18 years of age or older competing for a grand prize. With the theme “Limitation Inspires Creativity”, Penang Art Open 2021 showcases noteworthy emerging artists, those with unique perspective and artists with technical acuity whether it is cultural, aesthetic or formalist-to the art world at large. This exhibition is open to public starting on 15 January till 28 February 2022. Come one and all as we are open daily except for Friday and Public Holidays from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.

GEORGE TOWN, Nov 9 — The dusky langur, usually called the dusky leaf monkey, is a common sight along the fringes of forests in peninsular Malaysia but little is known about this shy creature that often avoids humans. 

In an effort to increase awareness of this endangered leaf-eating primate, art curator Ivan Gabriel started putting together a proposal for a langur-themed art exhibition in early January.

With that, it is hereby announced that the Gallery which located at Ground floor and 3rd Floor of Penang State Art Gallery will reopen for public visiting beginning on 4th October 2021, from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

LangUR : E-Catalogue

The LangUR : Building Bridge Between Our Worlds art exhibition showcases 60 artworks with various mediums and from different artistic backgrounds. The various Dusky Leaf Monkey ( Langur ) themed artworks truly demonstrate the artists’ ingenuity and creativity.
All of the pieces are for sale, and a portion of the proceeds will be channeled to Langur Project Penang ( LPP ) for their research, conservation, and environmental education efforts.
